Jimmy ROLAND: Meeting 'His' First Lady
It all began back in the 70's when Jimmy Roland began
looking at a career in music as a serious profession. Once
he'd had enough of the bar-hopping and partying, a certain
artist with a unique voice and style really caught his attention.
He began to study this artist and soon viewed her as, a perfect
role model. There were others who influenced Jimmy (such
as Barry White) but the
class that this particular individual
had, was something that Roland felt was inside of him.
Running buddies started questioning why Jimmy would all
of a sudden brush them off and would stay home to
practice singing on weekends. On Saturday nights, Roland's
then, small Hollywood apartment would turn into his very own
little tiny recording studio. He'd plug in this little cassette tape recorder and grab this
special artists' latest album. Roland would then began to sing along to the tracks while recording his vocal performances. The evening would consist of him recording and listening to playbacks numerous times until he'd
hear something that he thought would make his heroine (whom he'd never met) proud of him. Jimmy Roland went on to realize many of his dreams (as he still does).
On Friday, January 13, 2012 at approximately 7:30pm and also just a few blocks from Jimmy Roland's front door, Roland and his heroine
finally met. With his nerves running all over the place and huge tears falling from his eyes, Roland was finally able to utter these words to her:
"Ms. Dionne Warwick, may I just say 'thank you' for all of the joy you've brought to me during my life time.? I love you so much! I love you, I love you, I love you!"
After the two chatted for a few and then then said goodbye,
Ms. Warwick patted Jimmy Roland on his left shoulder and told Roland,
"I'll see you later". Rumor has it that
Roland, has yet to return to planet Earth .
The album that Roland would rehearse to was produced for Ms. Warwick by Barry Manilow and contained her huge smash 'I Know I'll Never Love This Way Again'. Still Jimmy Roland's favorite song of all time.
